Taryn Simon on The Guardian
Braille Edition of Playboy © Taryn Simon
Taryn Simon discussing her upcoming show at Tate Modern for the Guardian. While "An American Index of the Hidden and Unfamiliar" may be perhaps the finest body of photographic work to emerge from the noughties, it remains to see whether her latest series "Contraband" and "A Living Man Declared Dead and Other Chapters" represent a progression in her practice or a step too far into belabored photographic inquiry.

Paddy Englishman, Paddy Irishman, Paddy Afghan?
Fantastic video on Simon Norfolk's re-imagining of Irish explorer John Burke's images of Afghanistan from the Second Anglo-Afghan War. Norfolk has hit the nail on the head with his insights into the effects the seemingly endless cycle of conflict has had on the fabric of the nation.

Enrique 'El Nino' Metinides, Lightbox by Time
Shout out to the good folks over at Time magazine's fantastic new photography portal Lightbox for publishing my video homage to the incredible Mexican photographer Enrique Metinides. It seems they're as fascinated by his work as I am.
Props also to the enigma Ross Killeen of Event Junkies for the edit and to Eunice Adorno for generously letting us use her wonderful portraits of the man.
